13th annual of the Festival of Tibetan Films and Films about Tibet FLIM 2021

Dear friends of cinematography,

After a pause due to the global pandemic and closed cinemas, we are once again announcing to you the Festival of Tibetan Films and Films about Tibet FLIM 2021. This year’s 13th annual will take place on December 7 and 8 at the Světozor cinema.

Although we have prepared some new movies for you, we would like to mention one reprise first. We decided to screen again the film “Nowhere to Call Home - Tibetan in Beijing”, which we presented in 2016. During the planned telebridge with director Jocelyn Ford, we will learn new information about the fates of the main protagonists of the film.

Paul Mac Gowan’s film “Wandering - But Not Lost” tells the story of a four-and-a-half-year retreat (June 2011 – November 2015) of the renowned Tibetan Buddhist teacher Mingjur Rinpoche. Spending a relatively long time of life as a wandering yogi is an unprecedented practice among today’s Buddhist teachers.

Very interesting is the little-known aspect of the life of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama captured in the documentary “Dalai Lama - scientist”. Dawn Gifford Engle’s documentary tells about His Holiness’s efforts to inspire modern science with knowledge from Buddhist practice based on his lifelong interest in science and technology.

Australian director Lary Damiani’s film “The Man in Maroon” (author of Tibet’s Cry for Freedom) offers inspiring views of His Holiness expressing his views on a variety of topics such as politics, human and Western values. We will also learn the views of some famous musicians from Australia and the USA about the personality of His Holiness and the question of Tibet.
